Okay buckle in... Let me tell you a little love story.
Once upon a time there was a very, hot, witty and smart single mom raising a very precocious doe-eyed little child with great hair. Her name was... Me!!!
I know, you thought I was talking about Lorelei and Rory Gilmore but I was talking about me because... once upon a time, I too was a totally hot (I swear it) newly divorced single mom raising the most adorable Baby Gap Kid-looking child on the planet. See...

I told you... adorable!!!
Anywhoo that hot single-divorced, brokenhearted mom with the adorable kid needed something to give her hope. She needed something to make her believe that she could raise her child and still wear stilettos and listen to artists on the Blood Shot Records label and A Tribe Called Quest and N.E.R.D. and not give in to playing Kidz Bop (and don't you just hate that they spell it with a z? 🤮). She was just a single mom looking at the world asking it to love her.
Because let me tell you – when you get divorced, you are a leper. Sure, they say more than half of marriages end in divorce but when divorce becomes your reality, believe me, it's a lonely island.
But I digress... back to the love story because I promised you a romance.
So you're out there, all on your lonesome - thrown out into the hard cold streets and dating again 🤮 You're wondering where are all the single-mom hot girls who are doing the dang thing, making their own rules and looking good in jeans? Where are all the J.C. Waitts of your generation? Well... enter Lorelei Gilmore from Gilmore Girls.
I binged the first three seasons of Gilmore Girls back when you had to get in line and wait for your turn for the Netflix DVDs to arrive in the mail (yes, I am that old but that's okay because once upon time , I was a hot as hell single mom – I had my heyday)
Anywhoo, I watched the rest of Gilmore Girls with everybody else in the early 00s on Tuesday nights at 7PM on the WB which became the CW. And, I stopped dating and started doing movie nights every Friday and Saturday night with my kiddo just like Lorelei and Rory because my kid's company was far superior to the witless "Bro and Bruh Hoes" I was meeting (one of them liked to play the fiddle while wearing a cape and riding a unicycle...this is true story that my kid wrote a short story about and got an A).
So I put myself on the shelf for years and years. I decided if Dream Dude was out there, I'd have to find him like Lorelei Gilmore met all her gentleman callers. She lived her life in her neighborhood minding her own business. No apps! No blind dates (except Rune but he really doesn't count)! No stool-hopping and kicking tires at bars! Nope.
And guess what? I found him! My dream dude--British, Ginger, Tall, Hazel-Eyed Very Max Medina Meets Jess. Literate, cultured in music books and movies and could keep up. We locked eyes at a BBQ in my friend's backyard. Our fate was sealed over a conversation about Citizen Kane and The Thin Man series and a debate about About A Boy – which was better the book or the movie? It was the book, of course!!! But he insisted it was the movie. I forgave him. It was love at first banter.
Anywhoo... his first gift to me was a boxed set of the first season of Gilmore Girls and I knew he was a keeper.

(See? I told you I was hot and young once upon a time)
We've been married for 16 years!!!
Anywhoo... if you like books and music and movies and love easter eggs and quippy witty banter and pumpkin spice lattes (I mean I don't like them but maybe you do) then you'll love Gilmore Girls.
Don't believe the haters!
PS: When our kid (he's that great of a stepdad!) turned 10ish, we started binging Gilmore Girls all the time because the hubs bought us the entire series over the years. So, you see? Gilmore Girls is the show that keeps on giving. And yes, we got our kid a Compact Oxford English Dictionary as part of their high school graduation gift and a used copy of Mojo: The Ultimate Music Companion. And when you watch Gilmore Girls, you'll get this.
