Honestly, f*ck Hillsong and Bethel and Elevation Worship and all that praise music sh*t that just sounds like some blend of Taylor Swift (the country years) meets Imagine Dragon meets U2.
You wanna listen to some praise music...listen to Sault. I worship at this church though they don't have a church and I'm not even sure at which Gods altar Sault kneels.
This is honest to goodness spirit music as God (and by all means pick your god) intended. It doesn't proselytize. It doesn't preach. There will be no collection plate passed at the end of this album.
And here's the kicker: these are musicians not followers who claim their spiritual gift is acts of service or some bullsh*t like that. These are people who love music and are not "gifted" but hard-working folks with talent and good taste.
Sault is the equivalent of Aretha Franklin giving a concert to a sold-out congregation with Mick Jagger sitting the front row back in 1972 at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church. You know what I mean? These are songs about a God who isn't blind to the state of world or oppression and isn't co-signing on the nonsense.
This God is Pure.
